We are a team of people who have taken lost and found dog cases to heart.
CANI smarriti e trovati is a non-profit Social Promotion Association whose purpose is to support the “parents” of lost dogs in finding them. While waiting for its establishment (see “Atto Costitutivo e Statuto Registrato“), it has equipped itself with a web portal that is indispensable for carrying out the activities necessary to pursue the Association’s aims through the publication of images and news useful for finding one’s dog and identifying it. On the other hand, it allows those who find a lost dog to check for lost reports by consulting the uploaded listings, and to get in touch with the owner of the lost individual for its return.
CANI smarriti e trovati presents itself as a platform to collect in a single container the many reports of dogs that are lost in Italy, as well as those that are found wandering and apparently lost.
Tens of thousands of dogs are lost in Italy every year. Of these only 2/3 are found. And this is thanks to microchipping. Unfortunately, the number of dogs that are run over and pass on to another life is very high. Then there remains a large percentage of dogs that disappear into thin air. In most cases someone takes them off the street and brings them home, without even wondering who they are taken from, whether they have a family looking for them, and whether they are not wronging the dog itself by depriving it of its family! Many dogs are also stolen never to be found again. With the website canismarritietrovati.it we want to help put a stop, and more order to what is happening.
A DOG is an individual and not an object, it has its own soul, feelings and affections!
Inspirational muse of this database is Tea Vela, a tricolor English setter, lost on Dec. 20, 2021 in Rome, and to this day still missing, which opened a dramatic experience in the life of her owner/human adopter, Chiara: the sudden disappearance of a member of my family! A trauma that has no solution, except with her recovery. During my search, I have met many people, who have found themselves in a similar situation. The lack of reference of a website with a database, where to channel all the information of lost and found dogs nationwide, led me to create this tool, which will hopefully become a reference point for all lost, as well as found, dogs.
The site canismarritietrovati.it also wants to lend a helping hand to those who on a daily basis are a resource for solving and helping dogs find their way home!
